f '(x) = u'v - v'u/v簡

Differentiate

x簡 + 1 / x-1

Solution

Recall that if f(x) = U  Vwhere u 硃紳餃泭v are both functions of泭x, then f '(x) = u'v - v'u/v簡

u = x簡 + 1泭 泭 泭 v = x-1

u' = 2x泭 泭 泭 泭 泭 泭v' = 1

 

Using this, we get

 

(2x(x-1)-(1)(x^2+1))/(x-1)^2
